Email or call us today to take advantage of the reduced price!

This AHRS is equipped with our most accurate gyros and a precision magnetometer to provide you with attitude and heading reference data in applications where GPS data could be lost or is not available.

The signals from three solid state angular rate sensors are coordinate transformed and then integrated to produce attitude and heading outputs that reflect normal aircraft attitude coordinates. These attitude and heading signals are compared against a triaxial accelerometer and a triaxial fluxgate magnetometer to derive gyro drift error. The errors are filtered over a long time constant and are used to adjust biases in the system so that the long-term convergence of the system is to the vertical references and the magnetic heading reference. A velocity input is used to calculate compensations for centrifugal forces and velocity changes on the vertical reference to improve the overall stability and accuracy of the attitude and heading data.

AHRS-E304 features:

  • Solid State, Strapdown System
  • Three Angular Rate Sensor Outputs
  • X, Y & Z Magnetometer Outputs
  • X, Y & Z Accelerometer Outputs
  • Bank and Elevation Outputs
  • Forward Velocity Input
  • Continuous Error Correction System
  • Precision Alignment
  • Temperature Compensated
  • Shock & Vibration Resistant
  • Low Power
  • Rugged, High Reliability
  • Analog and RS-232 Serial Outputs
  • PC Heading Calibration
  • Two Year Limited Warranty
  • Engineering Support

Feel free to call with any application needs or questions. We look forward to working together to help design and manufacture a sensor that meets your specifications.

Some of the many applications for this sensor include:

  • Land
    • Unmanned Vehicles
    • Road Surface Measurement
    • Robotics research
  • Ocean
    • Cable Laying

Applications for the Attitude & Heading Reference sensors range from the depths of the ocean to high in the sky. Here are two applications for our AHRS sensors. Our website provides suggested sensors for more of our aerospace, land and ocean applications.

Aviation: Piloting Display

Aircraft flight testing is a part of the design evaluation and validation process for new and modified airframes. Many kinds of data, from the attitude of the aircraft to measurements of structural torsion and flight control flutter are necessary for an accurate and complete evaluation of an aircraft design. Incomplete or inaccurate test data can be costly and can affect pilot safety.

Rate gyros are the primary component for flight testing instrumentation, and Watson Industries’ line of vibrating structure gyros is the best choice. For testing applications that require many data sources, Watson Industries offers sensor packages that include gyros with accelerometers.

Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs)

Normally, small submersibles are stabilized by the pilot’s actions in response to the orientation of the sub. In the case of an ROV, the pilot is not on board so there is no human “feel” for the orientation of the vehicle. This situation can lead to damage or loss of the submersible. Since the cost of the vehicles as well as the expense of at-sea operations is quite high, a sensor package is necessary that can reliably transmit accurate data on the attitude of the sub.

Remotely operating a submersible requires a full attitude gyro sensor. Heading data is necessary to navigate the vehicle to its destination. Pitch and roll data is also required to provide an accurate picture of the vehicle’s orientation. Other important features of the gyro package are wide bandwidth, low power consumption, and high reliability.

Our AHRS sensors are ideal for these applications and many others. They have provided accurate data and reliable performance for customers in these fields for many years.
